Is It Ever Okay To Check Your Lover’s Phone?

My best friend can probably read off a laundry list of times where she’s tried to talk me out of looking through my lover’s phone. Our conversations usually go like this:

Me: “Sasha! He’s asleep and left his phone by me. Should I go in?”
Sasha: “No. It’s just going to cause unnecessary drama.
If he trusts you enough to leave his unlocked phone around you,
you should trust him enough to not go through it.”
Me: “Shut up. I’m going in!”
Sasha : *click*

No Shame In My Game

I don’t see a problem with looking through a significant other’s phone.
*dodges tomatoes*
I’m not ashamed to admit that I’ve done it! I’ve done it numerous times actually. I just feel like there should be few to no secrets in HEALTHY relationships. Think about it, if your lover is having relations with some hunchbacked, gorilla-faced vagabond, dawg gone it, you should know about it! And if you think they’re just going to volunteer this information, you’ve got another thing coming. Imagine what a world this would be if they were forthcoming with this information :

Ideal Scenario

Boyfriend: “Hey babe. You know that trashy looking chick with the big boobs from Apartment C?
I’m hitting that! Now before you go stalking her on Facebook,
you should stop by the clinic to get yourself checked out.”

Not happening right? Exactly. No one’s going to tell you that they’re cheating. No one’s going to tell you that they’re laundering money. No one’s going to shout out to the world that they’re cooking up meth in the basement of their house (shout out to Breaking Bad!). It’s just not going to happen. And unfortunately,  we’re living in a age where AIDS/HIV, STDs and $2 heaux run rampant. As such, we have to be more proactive in our search for the truth.

I’m telling you, checking your lover’s phone could literally save your life.
